Premise
Captain Ahimsa Siven has secretly carried the burden of the psychic prediction detailing his death. His assassin is St. John Burroughs, his first love who he severed all contact with twenty years ago. The brutality of war has hardened him emotionally, riddled his body with scars, and covered him in tattoos keeping a cynic’s account of past lovers. In serving his country, Koljevskya, he abandoned his childhood memories of happiness in order to save his dying homeland.
After Ahimsa broke his heart, St. John’s life spiraled out of control. His antics – including drinking, drugs, prostitutes, and gigolos – have molded him into a loudmouthed Gonzo journalist for the multinational Free State Network. John’s abrasiveness hid his all-consuming loneliness. The last thing he expected was that the Ministry of Defense’s fate projection system, Composer, would order her sleeper agent to fulfill his destiny.
When John arrives in Koljevskya, Ahimsa’s fate is set in motion. John and Ahimsa’s affair features relentless tension and furious sensuality. Ahimsa struggles between his duty and his intense attraction to his childhood love. John battles with his anger and uncertainty about his predestined mission. When the soldier submits to his journalist lover in a night of desperate passion, the two can no longer recognize that they’re on opposing sides of the war.
With a cruel destiny etched in stone, even fate can be a fickle mistress once in a while and change her mind. John and Ahimsa are given an opportunity to change the future and atone for the past.
